This Fair Wear and Tear Guide is produced by the BVRLA and outlines the guidelines for returning your leased vehicle at the end of your contract. The Guide acts as an industry-standard accepted level of Fair Wear and Tear which you should take a look at before you return your car.

The fair wear and tear occurs when normal usage causes acceptable deterioration to a vehicle, age, mileage and use of the vehicle are taken into account.

Fair wear and tear is not to be confused with damage, which occurs as a result of a specific event or series of events such as impact, harsh treatment, negligent acts or omissions.
